Pin-up Calendar

London based photographer, Jaroslav Wieczorkiewicz, has created a 12 month calendar inspired by retro calendars from the 1940′s pinup girl. Except the girls aren’t wearing clothes, they are wearing milk. Very fast milk. Frozen with high speed strobes, each photograph is layered from hundreds of photographs of splashes on real models using real milk. And each of the images were taken around the world at his various workshops and seminars.

When I first saw this calendar idea it made me smile and made me think about the creative mind behind this idea. To maintain a tradition which comes from the early 40s, this calendar has a great role in combining two different concepts; traditional and contemporary photography. In photographical manner the action photography is used brilliantly in this calendar. The idea of poured milk as a women dress has a great value in reflecting women's pureness and their body shapes. In designing aspect, in all of them women are positioned in the center of the page with a little accessories that reflects women's roles in the society. The composition makes the audience focus directly to the women. Also with the gestures of the women, the photographer created a path for the audience to follow.
